I have an Atari 800 with 48K, a 1050 floppy drive, about 30 games, ALL cables
necessary to operate the system, and a couple of joysticks... Everything is
in perfect working order. Neither the computer nor the drive have ever been
tinkered with. Best offer takes it!!!

My favorite screen saver (which I used since day one) is IDLE 1.2 by Moshe
Braner (one of the best PD programmers alive for the ST!)
As far as I know, if it behaves well inside STuffer, then it runs the same as
if were running as a normal DA.
Looks like I'll need to setup STuffer again on my hard disk... Ran out of
space for DAs on it...

If you're worried about that, give Jim Allen(of Turbo 16 fame) a call. Of
course he won't be able to commit to anyrthing until he actually _sees_ a
release version TT, but he has mentioned the ease with the TT can be accel-
erated on GEnie.

Yep... I believe that Atari would pick up _more_ than a few sales by
1) Making ST, Mega, TT _available_ at university computer shops in the
first place.
2) Offering a student dicsount on said machines
3) Placing ads in campus rags like Apple, Zenith, IBM, and NeXT do.
(They sell a lot of Zeniths even though they're nothing _too_
special). I saw a young woman buying a NeXT because "daddy"
was going to buy her a computer and the guy at the store was
telling her what a great one the NeXT was. I feel sorry for
when she wants to do anything as simple as install a piece of
new software not understanding Unix/Mach.)
It wouldn't be too tough to do, I imagine. Even step 2 could be implemented
by itself just to nullify the competetion's power/price advantage.

I was a bit surprised to read this. While I haven't used it, I know that
MadMac has a switch for writing MWC compatible output. That should
eliminate most of the problems quite quickly.
I have to agree with the complaints about the MWC "as" syntax, but I
do understand the reasons. Their documentation states that the syntax
of their compilers and assemblers is common across all development
platforms. So, while it may be bizarre for any one specific machine, it
maintains the same standards for all. The '/' comment deliniator is an
obvious carryover from C syntax. Most of the assembler is designed
to be a compiler back end, not a general purpose assembler. I may find it
as clumsy as anyone else, but I do realize why it is that way.

Right off the bat: I'm not volunteering to manage this, and it REQUIRES a
manager, so the idea may be doomed.
There are a lot of questions of the form "How do I get the ST to do job X
in language Y". These are well answered with small example programs. It
gets messy to try to save all of these examples in any kind of organized
manner, and there's a tendency to forget whether a particular question has
already been answered. The answers are generally too small for reasonable
sources postings. It would be useful if someone were to collect and index
these little sources, solicit new ones, link the originals to corrections
and updates, and generally keep them available. Any offers? Better ideas?
What I will offer to do is contribute a few goodies of this type myself.
